Eric DePanfilis, vice president and chief information security and infrastructure officer at TravelCenters of America, has left the company, DePanfilis posted to LinkedIn last week.
DePanfilis’ last day was April 3, ending a nearly two-decade run with the travel center chain that included numerous leadership positions across engineering and information security, he said in his announcement.
While DePanfilis did not specify why he left TA, he said that he’ll be “sharing more details about my new opportunity in the coming weeks.”
“What started as my second job out of college has been a journey of tremendous growth, learning, and meaningful impact,” DePanfilis wrote. “I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the relationships I’ve built along the way.”
DePanfilis joined TA in 2008 as a network engineer and eventually assumed leadership of the retailer’s enterprise network services team. After over five years in that role, he began to focus on cybersecurity as an information security officer, before becoming director of information security in 2020 and VP in 2022, according to his LinkedIn bio.

DePanfilis had been with TA for about 15 years when the truckstop chain was acquired by BP in 2023. He remained with the company post-acquisition even as BP consolidated parts of TA’s leadership and as its former CEO left the company. He became TA’s chief information security officer in early 2023, and added infrastructure oversight to his duties in late 2024, according to his LinkedIn bio.
“With the support of my teams and peers, I’ve been able to drive real change and contribute to the company’s success — something I’ve always valued deeply,” he said in his post.
A spokesperson from BP did not respond by press time to comment on DePanfilis’ departure.
