Dive Brief:
- Vontier, the parent company of Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Invenco, has named Andy Bennett as group president of its new convenience retail division, the company announced on Thursday.
- Bennett, who has led Vontier’s electric vehicle charging business since 2023, will spearhead the new division, which aims to “create a more seamless customer experience in the rapidly evolving convenience store market,” according to the announcement.
- Vontier’s creation of a c-store division comes as convenience retailers are increasingly adding new technologies and services to their stores to streamline their customer and employee experience.
Dive Insight:
The new convenience retail division groups Vontier’s other solutions — including its Gilbarco Veeder-Root fueling arm, Invenco point-of-sale service and Driivz EV charging business — in one place, making it easier for the company to sell c-stores a package of solutions, from the forecourt to the back office.
Retailers can engage with Vontier’s new c-store department to unify the payments platform across their entire network, improve efficiency by providing remote asset management, integrate ads to loyalty offerings across multiple touchpoints and improve energy management. All of this can reduce costs and the amount of work needed to run these systems.
"Convenience stores are becoming multi-service mobility hubs, not just pit stops," said Bennett. "Our customers need technology that works seamlessly together and enables consumers to fuel or charge their vehicle, order food, or get their car washed — all while enjoying a consistent elevated experience."
Vontier’s technology is used by a variety of top convenience retailers, including RaceTrac, 7-Eleven, Alimentation Couche-Tard and Kwik Trip.
Bennett originally joined Vontier as CEO of the Driivz EV charging division in early 2023, according to his LinkedIn bio. He joined Vontier from software development company mPrest, where he spent two years as CEO. His career also includes sales positions with tech company IBM and a variety of leadership positions with automation company Schneider Electric.
