Dive Brief:
- SwiftSku, a back office and point of sale software company that works with more than 3,000 independent c-stores, has partnered with Vroom Delivery to provide those smaller businesses with access to e-commerce tools, according to a Monday press release.
- Retailers using SwiftSku can now set up online ordering and first- and third-party delivery, including integrations with DoorDash and Uber Eats. The partnership also gives them access to Vroom’s kiosk ordering, omnichannel kitchen management program and digital commerce monetization solution.
- These independent c-stores join a broader list of convenience retailers that have built out their delivery capabilities this year, including EG America, United Pacific and Gas Express, the largest Circle K franchiser in the U.S.
Dive Insight:
Consumers are placing online food orders more than once a week on average, according to a DoorDash survey. However, accepting digital ordering often requires additional technology and labor hours, making it hard for small retailers to get started.
Vroom’s technology will automatically list items from the store in online menus and remove them when they’re out of stock. Digital orders will also get entered directly into the retailer’s system, with no additional hardware required.
The first of SwiftSku’s more than 3,000 retailers is expected to have these tools online in January, with most of the rest coming online throughout 2026.
“I grew up in a family-run convenience store, so I know how hard independent retailers fight for every dollar and every customer,” said Mit Patel, CEO of SwiftSku. “This partnership brings enterprise-grade delivery technology to the corner store, unlocking new revenue streams and advancing our mission to bring modern infrastructure to the backbone of America’s retail economy.”
Vroom has made several deals aimed at helping smaller c-stores this year, including a partnership with Petrosoft, announced in April, that gave smaller retailers access to automation tools.
