With foodservice more of a focus for convenience retailers now than ever before, operators are not only building and promoting in-house menus, but they’re also adding QSRs to their locations at breakneck speed.
This has come in the form of both on-site partnerships and franchise agreements, which have included deals with multinational restaurant chains as well as smaller, regional players. And the goal remains the same regardless of the type of restaurant: to make c-stores more of a food-focused destination.
The industry is well aware of how major retailers such as 7-Eleven and Circle K use QSRs to their advantage. But more recently, a flurry of lesser-known operators have grabbed headlines for their efforts to bring restaurants to their convenience stores.
