7-Eleven is leaning further into its signature frozen drink to drive customer traffic this summer with a Slurpee happy hour.
The c-store chain announced Monday that it will offer $1 Slurpees from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members. The promotion started April 29 and ends Aug. 25.
The offer builds on a few other Slurpee-focused marketing efforts rolling out in time for the warmest season of the year. Every July 11, the chain hosts “Slurpee Day” promotions that include free Slurpee drinks. 7-Eleven will also exclusively offer cans of Arizona Iced Tea's new Blue Raspberry Slurpee flavor in stores through June 23.
“Slurpee Day is a can’t-miss tradition for our customers, and the countdown is just as exciting as the big day,” said Brandon Brown, senior vice president of fresh food and beverages at 7-Eleven, in the announcement. “Slurpee Drink Happy Hour brings that energy into every afternoon serving up a cold, craveable break and a head start on the big Slurpee Day festivities.”
7-Eleven’s happy hour promotion also highlights the company’s drive to improve its food and beverage offerings and better compete with restaurants.
The chain is in the midst of rolling out a next-generation store model that offers more retail space and prepared food options. At the same time, 7-Eleven is also remodeling thousands of locations to this “new standard” format across the country.
