Dive Insight:
Casey’s Ioanna Rechargery rollout will start at two stores in both Illinois and Missouri, as well as one site in Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas, according to the announcement. The company has already broken ground on all eight sites.
"This partnership with Casey's is key to expanding our presence in America's heartland — a region that embodies the spirit and tenor of IONNA's brand," said Seth Cutler, CEO of Ionna. "With a shared respect and commitment to delivering quality customer experience, we are pleased to add Casey's to our growing network of partners."
Despite being the third-largest c-store retailer in the U.S., Casey’s has taken its EV expansion fairly slowly. The retailer has only brought chargers to about 42 sites since getting into alternative energy in 2018 through a partnership with Electric America. At the time, Casey’s was part of the charging company’s $500 million EV investment, which also brought chargers to Sheetz and Global Partners, among other retailers.
About a quarter of Casey’s EV charging stations are at stores in its home state of Iowa, while Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas and Minnesota all have multiple locations with chargers. Before its latest partnership with Ionna, Indiana, Kansas, Arkansas, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wisconsin had only one Casey’s with a charging station.
