Dive Insight:
According to a job posting for Maverik’s chief of staff role, Avrit will serve as “a strategic partner and trusted advisor” to the convenience retailer’s chief operating officer, John Hillam. The posting also says the chief of staff will help enable the effectiveness of Maverik’s executive leadership team, which is led by CEO Crystal Maggelet.
Additionally, Avrit will oversee special projects, coordinate company-wide initiatives and manage agendas, presentations and other materials for executive leadership and board meetings.
While at Destination Homes, Avrit provided strategic administrative support to the group’s executive leadership and helped establish company policies, goals and procedures. Prior to Destination Homes, Avrit was an operations manager for the University of Utah for nearly three years, according to her LinkedIn bio. There, she managed the budgeting for marketing, alumni engagement, student programming, and careers and networking.
Maverik has made several changes to its leadership team and corporate structure this year. In February, the company named Brian Hyde as vice president of optimization and Steven Rupe as VP of finance. Six months later, it hired Myles Gift as VP of retail operations.
This summer, Maverik cut about 100 corporate Kum & Go team members in Des Moines as part of a shift to consolidate its headquarters to Salt Lake City. Maverik officially completed all Kum & Go rebrands late last month.
