Maverik has hired Myles Gift as its next vice president of retail operations, Gift announced Wednesday on LinkedIn. He noted in his LinkedIn bio that he took the position earlier this month.
It’s unclear what Gift’s priorities will be in his new role. A spokesperson from Maverik did not respond by press time to comment on his hiring. However, Gift has spent most of his professional career in the quick-service restaurant industry, meaning he brings the skillset to help the convenience retailer grow its established Bonfire foodservice program.
Gift’s move to Maverik marks his first foray into the convenience store industry, according to his LinkedIn bio. He joins Maverik from Wingstop franchisee GSR Group, where he was VP of operations for nearly three years.
Prior to GSR Group, Gift was either VP or director of operations for numerous chain restaurants, including Wing Zone, Five Guys Enterprises, Slim Chickens and Captain D’s. He was an area director for Pizza Hut earlier in his career.
He joins Maverik during a tumultuous time for the convenience retailer, which has faced layoffs and public scrutiny over its ongoing rebranding of Kum & Go and retirement of the Iowa chain’s banner. Recently, Maverik revealed that it’s cutting about 100 corporate jobs in Iowa — Kum & Go’s home base and largest market — and consolidating its headquarters to Utah.
