Dive Insight:
In the ongoing battle for fuel dollars, offering a fleet card that’s easier to qualify for could give Murphy’s banners an edge. Rather than either approving or denying applicants, these cards offer prepaid and hybrid products that can transition to full credit lines as the business builds credit.
“Our new business card program has been upgraded with modern technology, and its affordability opens the door for every business, especially the local ones,” said Keith Emery, Murphy USA vice president of retail fuels.
QuickChek card holders who enroll in QuickChek Rewards can receive 1,000 points and 10% off on select in-store merchandise. Fleets that use the chain’s previous business card can reapply to receive the new benefits.
Many convenience retailers have beefed up their professional driver payment options this year. Murphy joins fellow large retailers EG America and BP in adding fleet cards to their offerings this year. Other businesses, like Maverik and TravelCenters of America, have tried to court fleets with cardless payment solutions.
