A handful of major c-store chains made significant changes to the top of their executive structures last month. Here’s a recap of some of the top shifts from July. And, in case you missed it, here’s our executive roundup from June.
7-Eleven’s chief of staff departs
Kristin Cook stepped down from her post as vice president and chief of staff to 7-Eleven CEO Joseph DePinto, Cook announced in a LinkedIn post. She did not state her upcoming plans.
Cook joined 7-Eleven in 2010 as senior counsel, according to her LinkedIn bio. She spent the next 13 years across various roles in 7-Eleven’s legal department, including associate general counsel and deputy general counsel.
In June 2023, Cook became chief of staff to the CEO. As chief of staff, Cook has spent the past two years as strategic advisor to DePinto and the senior management team, “integrating work streams and linking the leadership team to the broader 7-Eleven organization,” according to her bio on 7-Eleven’s website, which was recently removed.
Pilot appoints new president of retail
Pilot Company appointed former Chief Operating Officer Brad Anderson as the travel center chain’s new president of retail, a spokesperson confirmed to C-Store Dive.
Anderson had been COO since late 2023, leading the overall retail anfood strategy for Pilot’s 900 travel centers, as well as its owned and operated restaurants.

In addition to continuing with those responsibilities, Anderson will now oversee the effort to bring Pilot’s brand, marketing and consumer insights team under the company’s retail umbrella, the spokesperson said. Pilot’s spokesperson emphasized that these departments are “a natural fit within the retail vertical and will continue to focus on creating exceptional experiences through the Pilot brand.”
This shift underscores Pilot’s aim to center its business around retail and energy, Pilot CEO Adam Wright said in a statement to C-Store Dive.
EG Group nabs new CFO
EG Group, parent company of EG America, named Mark Segal as its new chief financial officer, according to a company announcement.
Segal replaced Russell Colaco, who left his post as CFO to become EG Group’s CEO in April. Segal will report to Colaco and will be based in the U.S., the U.K.-based company’s largest market by revenue. EG Group operates more than 1,500 convenience stores across the U.S.,
Segal joined EG Group from Spin Master, a children’s entertainment business that operates in more than 100 countries. He was executive vice president and CFO of the company for over 20 years, notably leading it through an initial public offering in 2015. Besides managing the company’s finances, Segal was the “primary interface with equity and debt capital markets around strategy and business results,” according to the announcement.
Dash In names its first CMO
Wills Group, parent company of the Dash In convenience stores, appointed Matt Simon as its first chief marketing officer, according to an announcement.
As CMO, Simon supports Dash In’s expansion into the Carolinas, which has been in the works for years. Wills Group, which operates about 55 c-stores across Delaware, Virginia and its home state of Maryland, acquired land for its first Dash In location in North Carolina earlier this year.

Simon is also helping bring Wills Group’s Splash In car wash business to the Carolinas, according to the announcement. Additionally, Simon will help grow the company’s overall brand experience, including its guest loyalty and e-commerce platform, Dash In Rewards.
He joined Wills Group from e-learning company Penn Foster Group, where he was CMO for the three years and led the company’s customer acquisition and brand transformation efforts.
UDF promotes within for new CFO
United Dairy Farmers promoted Justin Jefferson to chief financial officer of the Cincinnati, Ohio-based c-store chain, a company spokesperson confirmed to C-Store Dive.
As CFO, Jefferson oversees the company’s financial operations, including in areas like accounting, payroll, pricebook and ordering. He replaced Darryl Neltner, who retired at the end of May.
Jefferson joined UDF in 2019 as retail controller, according to the spokesperson. Before that, he spent nearly 15 years in a variety of accounting and financial roles, including as vice president and corporate controller of accessories designer Totes Isotoner and division controller for laser vision correction company LCA-Vision, according to his LinkedIn bio.
NACS names fourth CEO in history
NACS appointed Frank Gleeson as its next president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2026, the association announced in late July.
Gleeson, former president and CEO of food distributor Aramark Northern Europe, will succeed current President and CEO Henry Armour, who announced his resignation last October. Gleeson will be the fourth CEO in NACS’ 64-year history.
While leading Aramark Northern Europe from 2017 to 2024, Gleeson oversaw a team of over 20,000 employees across more than 2,800 locations in the U.K., Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before Aaramark, Gleeson was retail director at Topaz Energy Group, the largest importer, distributor and retailer of transportation fuel in Ireland.
He also served as VP of retail at Statoil Ireland, which has since rebranded to Equinor. There,he spearheaded its first American-style convenience store in Ireland. Most recently, Gleeson served as chairman of the National Oil Reserve Agency in Ireland.
Gleeson also served on NACS’ international board for 19 years and was on the NACS board of directors for 11 years, including a term as chairman from 2018 to 2019.
