Global Partners’ vice president of development and construction, Robert Donnelly, exited the company on April 10, a spokesperson from the convenience retailer confirmed to C-Store Dive this week.
Donnelly had been with Global Partners since late 2024, joining the convenience retailer after nearly two decades in construction management roles with supermarket chain Whole Foods, according to his LinkedIn bio.
Donnelly was one-third of Global Partners’ real estate development team, alongside Senior Vice President Max Slifka and Director of Real Estate Ryan Lawlor, according to the retailer’s website. Global Partners is working to fill his position, the company’s spokesperson said.
Whoever fills Donnelly’s role will oversee the end-to-end execution of Global Partners’ retail development pipeline, including NTIs, raze-and-rebuilds and remodels for the company’s convenience stores across the East Coast and Texas, managing a team that oversees $150 million in annual capital deployment, according to the job posting for the role. They’ll also implement the controls, processes and reporting frameworks to scale development and will help advance Global Partners’ electric vehicle charging infrastructure, which earlier this month entered Maine, its fourth state.
One notable task that Donnelly’s successor might have is competing for the rights to the 18 travel plazas in Massachusetts that the State Department initially awarded to Ireland-based Applegreen. Applegreen eventually withdrew its proposal after Global Partners expressed concerns about the bidding process, and the state said in October it will re-open the bidding for these locations. Global Partners said at the time it intends to once again bid for the sites.
