Dive Insight:
Under CEO Crystal Maggalet, Maverik has revamped its executive team as it looks to connect with its new customer base in the Midwest.
Rupe is the third C-suite hire Maverik has made since early December, joining Chief Commercial Officer Meghann Erhart and Chief of Staff Jaclyn Avrit. According to his LinkedIn bio, Rupe was interim CFO for the past year and was VP of finance and accounting, controller, and director of accounting before that.
Meanwhile, Giles brings his depth of experience in restaurant real estate management to the store development team at Maverik, which continues to tweak its portfolio. In his role, Giles oversees market and site selection, store design, entitlements, construction and operational handoff, according to an announcement he made on LinkedIn on Friday. He added that he’ll also handle annual capital budgets and ensure Maverik reaches its planned store count.

“Maverik has built an incredibly strong reputation for growth and innovation and I’m eager to contribute to this exciting next chapter,” Giles said on Friday. “I look forward to working with teams across the company to support store development, bring new Maverik locations to more communities and optimize our portfolio of existing stores.”
Besides Giles and the three C-suite leaders, other executive hires Maverik has made over the past year have included Brian Hyde, vice president of optimization, and Myles Gift, vice president of retail operations. The company also parted ways with its chief development officer as it eliminated 100 team members in a restructuring at Kum & Go’s former Iowa headquarters.
