Seven & i Holdings is implementing an organizational transformation in its international business, which covers operations outside of Japan and North America, according to a Monday announcement.
The company is creating a new international business management office and transferring operations of 7-Eleven Japan’s overseas business to that office. The new division will begin operations on July 1, according to the announcement. The retailer is also adding an international operations department as part of this new office.
Additionally, Seven & i is adding a global convenience store planning department under its corporate planning division and a global talent development department as part of its human resources division.
Seven Eleven Japan’s global business expansion department will integrate with the merchandise procurement department and will be renamed the global merchandising development department.
Numerous executive changes are coming with the organizational shift.
Those include President and CEO of 7-Eleven International Ken Wakabayashi moving into the role of executive officer in charge of international business. Minoru Nakamura, executive officer and head of global HR strategy for the office of the CEO, is adding the role of general manager of the human resources division. Kei Hamada, executive officer and senior officer in the corporate planning department, is now also senior officer for the international business management office.
Several other executives and department head-level leaders and will also take on new or expanded roles in the new areas.
This all comes as Seven & i continues to make moves all over the world to boost its c-store ambitions. In the U.S., that has included a company-wide reorganization as the retailer’s North American arm continues its search for a new CEO and builds a foundation for a future IPO.
