3 Big Numbers is a weekly column that looks at a few key details from around the c-store industry.
Three convenience retailers made headlines recently for their expansion plans.
Yesway and Parker’s Kitchen both set timelines for their long-awaited debuts in new states, while Casey’s General Stores shared its latest M&A agreement. These moves continue a busy year for retailers expanding into new and existing markets.
In this week’s “3 Big Numbers,” we’re taking a closer look at these companies’ recent announcements and how they fit into their larger growth plans.

The number of stores Casey’s may add through two recent deals
Casey’s announced two M&A deals in the past two months. It plans to buy 24 locations from Pak-A-Sak and 20 sites from ASAP Energy.
It’s wise not to count your chickens before they hatch, but if both acquisitions close, 44 stores in Texas and Oklahoma will join Casey’s footprint.
Casey’s reported having 2,959 stores in its fiscal Q1 earnings release earlier this month, meaning these two acquisitions would push the chain over the 3,000-store mark. And that’s without the company’s continuing NTI growth.

The number of stores Parker’s plans to open in Florida next year
Parker’s Kitchen’s expansion into the Jacksonville, Florida, area has been underway for years. With the retailer’s Sunshine State debut approaching, the company shared some details about its longer-term plans for the state.
Parker’s plans to open its first Florida location in Yulee — about 25 miles north of downtown Jacksonville — in late October, the company announced earlier this week.
It will be the first of at least 12 sites Parker’s plans to have in the state by the end of 2027, the company said.
We’ll be watching to see how Parker’s Florida expansion impacts the retailer’s broader footprint, which already includes over 100 stores in Georgia and South Carolina.

The number of stores Yesway will have in Arizona on Oct. 2
Yesway plans to open its first store in Arizona on Oct. 2, the company shared on Thursday. That site — an Allsup’s in Willcox, about 85 miles east of Tucson — is the first of two locations in the Grand Canyon State that Yesway lists on its website.
Once the Willcox location opens, Yesway will have 453 stores between its two banners. The company also highlighted during its Q1 earnings call that it expects to open 26 stores next year across its footprint.
While the retailer currently operates in 10 states, Yesway’s new-store development strategy is focused on just four: Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. That suggests we could see a good deal more Yesways debuting in Arizona in coming years.
