International flavors headlined multiple convenience store menu additions over the past few weeks. From full menu additions to single limited-time offers, below are some of the top recent foodservice moves across the convenience retail industry.
Rutter’s releases South of the Border menu
Rutter’s unveiled the first wave of its South of the Border menu on March 31.
The lineup includes more than two dozen new or revamped taco recipes with several protein options, such as barbacoa, steak, pulled pork or ground beef, as well as Old Bay fried shrimp, rice and beans and veggie.
Customers can also now fully customize burritos, nachos and walking tacos.
The initial rollout also added eight limited-time specialty tacos: fried chicken bacon ranch, BBQ pulled pork, classic steak, nacho-style taco meat, barbacoa queso, sweet heat shrimp, shrimp BLT and Old Bay Fish. These items are available through June.
Rutter’s also added limited-time Purple Moo vanilla milk in April.
Laredo Taco debuts walking tacos
7-Eleven has rolled out walking tacos at its Laredo Taco Company restaurants as part of the company’s Cinco de Mayo promotion.
The new item, available April 29 through June 23, includes seasoned ground beef, queso, pico de gallo and Doritos, served in the chip bag. The company is also offering $3 off select beer options during that time span.
The promotion also includes $3 frozen margaritas and a buy one, get one free deal on burritos on May 5.

QuickChek offers ube drink
QuickChek has added an ube vanilla coffee to its lineup for a limited time, according to an email from the company.
Ube, a purple yam from the Philippines, has a mild, sweet nutty vanilla flavor.
Coen Markets grows pizza roll variety
Coen Markets has expanded its pizza roll offerings with three new flavors. These include ham and cheese, spicy pepperoni and stromboli, which includes pepperoni and ham. All flavors are wrapped in seasoned, baked dough and come with dipping sauce.
The retailer has also partnered with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds soccer team to sell its pepperoni rolls at home games.
Stewart’s honors founding family with ice cream flavor
Stewart’s Shops added Dake’s Passion to its ice cream lineup for a limited time.
The new variety, which includes vanilla ice cream with blueberry and raspberry swirls and oatmeal cinnamon crumble, was named after the Dake family, which founded Stewart’s. Mike and Linda Toohey, a couple from Saratoga Springs, New York, won the naming rights to the new flavor by bidding $50,000 at a Saratoga Hospital Foundation gala last year.
The retailer also turned another limited-time ice cream flavor, Dirt Cake, into a milkshake. This includes Dirt Cake Ice Cream, milk and a chocolate drizzle, which are then topped with whipped cream and gummy worms.
