Iowa 80 Group’s board of directors has elected Delia Moon Meier as president and CEO of both Iowa 80 Group and CAT Scale Company, the trucking services group announced in a press release last week.
Moon Meier takes the lead of the company — most known for operating the popular Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcott, Iowa — after the passing of Will Moon, its previous top executive and brother of Moon Meier.
“As Will's sister, business partner and a longtime leader within our organization, Delia has dedicated her career to the values that have defined our company for generations,” said Iowa 80 Group in a LinkedIn post announcing the new appointment. “She knows this business, she knows our customers and she shares Will's unwavering commitment to the trucking industry, supporting our employees, and serving professional drivers and the motoring public.”
Moon Meier has served as senior vice president of both Iowa 80 Group and CAT Scale Company for more than 30 years, according to the press release.
“We are confident that under her leadership, Iowa 80 Group and CAT Scale will continue to grow, innovate, and serve the people who have placed their trust in us for so many years,” Iowa 80 Group said in the LinkedIn post.
Will Moon died unexpectedly at the age of 64, according to his obituary. In a LinkedIn post about his passing, the company said he would be remembered for his generous spirit and compassion, as well as the way he used his vision, kindness and dedication to shape the company and impact its employees.
“While this is an incredibly difficult time for our family and everyone who knew and worked with my brother, I am committed to carrying forward the values, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit that we both have instilled in these companies,” said Moon Meier in the press release.
Besides the Iowa 80 truck stop, which calls itself the world’s largest truck stop, Iowa 80 Group owns travel centers in Joplin, Missouri, and Kenly, North Carolina, as well as several other businesses in the hospitality, retail and transportation industries.
