Seven & i Holdings has decided not to proceed with an investment in Poland’s largest convenience store chain, according to a company announcement on Monday.
The retailer had announced earlier this month that it was in talks over the potential investment.
Although 7-Eleven’s parent company did not identify the retailer involved in either announcement, Zabka was Poland’s largest convenience store operator as of late 2025, according to the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service. The agency’s annual retail foods report ranked Zabka as the fourth-largest Polish retailer and wholesaler overall.
The Japanese company said the two sides were unable to come to terms that would be in the best interests of its shareholders and other stakeholders, according to the announcement.
“Europe remains an attractive growth opportunity for the Company,” Seven & i said in the announcement, adding that it will keep looking for opportunities in the region that are consistent with its strategy and could create sustainable long-term value.
7-Eleven does not have any convenience stores in Poland. Its European c-store network is concentrated in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, according to the retailer’s website.
