- Texas Born has hired c-store industry veteran Nate Brazier as president, the convenience retailer announced on Wednesday.
- Brazier joins TXB about three months after stepping down as president and CEO of Idaho-based Stinker Stores. He will lead the retailer’s daily operations while working closely with owner and CEO Kevin Smartt, per the announcement.
- Brazier’s hiring marks a significant addition to TXB, which operates more than 50 locations across Texas and Oklahoma and continues to expand throughout the Southwest.

Not only will Brazier lead TXB’s day-to-day functions, but he’s expected to help Smartt spearhead the retailer’s growth and expansion plans, which as of last year included doubling its store count to over 100 locations across Texas and Oklahoma. According to Wednesday’s announcement, TXB currently has five additional stores in the works.
In the announcement, Smartt said that Brazier’s hiring “is a direct reflection” of where TXB is headed.
“We’re building the organization and leadership team capable of operating a best-in-class convenience retail experience for our guests,” Smartt said. “Nate brings the kind of experience that can help us build on this momentum while also sharing the philosophy TXB was built on.”
Brazier became president and CEO of Stinker in mid-2024 after spending the previous three years as the retailer’s chief operating officer. He embraced the top role, often participating in industry events and overseeing Stinker’s plan to remodel many of its c-stores to feel more like — and compete with — QSRs.
Spicewood, Texas-based TXB has gained a loyal following mainly through its foodservice and proprietary brands. Brazier said his goal is to build on that foundation and continue differentiating the retailer through fresh food and strengthening its culture.
“Kevin [Smartt] and I are both detail-oriented and I’m expecting great things from our collaboration,” Brazier said.
