Dive Insight:
Circle K’s Inner Circle program has grown significantly since debuting in mid-2023, surging from about 1.2 million members during its initial rollout to 15 million as of May, Alex Miller, president and CEO of Couche-Tard, said during the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings call late last month.
However, the company saw room for improvement after hearing from customers that “loyalty programs shouldn't feel like one more thing to manage,” Rick Rasor, vice president of loyalty and digital experience at Circle K, said in the announcement.
“That's why the redesigned Inner Circle rewards program is built around how they already shop, rewarding them for the stops they're already making while giving them an opportunity for even greater savings the more they visit and shop at Circle K,” Rasor said.
The revamped program will also include personalized challenges that offer bonus visits based on members’ shopping habits. Members can track their visits, browse rewards and access personalized offers through Circle K’s mobile app.
Existing Inner Circle members will automatically transition to the updated program, according to the announcement. To mark the launch, Circle K will award double visits to Inner Circle members on Sept. 2.
Circle K’s loyalty update comes as convenience retailers continue launching or revamping their rewards programs to drive customer engagement and repeat visits.
