Dive Insight:
Golden Gate Rewards gives members a 2-cent-per-gallon fuel discount and lets them earn points on purchases at the pump and in the store, according to the announcement. The app also offers deals on products in the stores and has beverage clubs that let customers earn a free coffee or fountain drink after they buy 10.
The Trucker Program has four tiers. Members progress through the tiers based on how many gallons they buy in a month, with higher tiers earning more points per dollar spent on diesel and in-store items. Members also receive four points per dollar spent on fountain drinks, coffee and fresh food and three points per gallon of diesel exhaust fluid.
“Professional drivers keep this country moving, and they keep our business moving too,” said Randy Shores, marketing manager for Golden Gate Petroleum. “They shouldn’t have to go to a national chain to get a rewards program worth their time.”
New members get 100 bonus points and a free drink for signing up.
Golden Gate Petroleum has more than 30 locations in California, Nevada, Colorado and Utah. In addition to gas, some locations include car washes, bulk propane and foodservice offerings from companies like Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Port of Subs or Via Vita Pizza.
In addition to Golden Gate, Pony Express and United Refining, parent company of Kwik Fill, have launched new programs in the past few months, while Mickey’s relaunched its program.
