Dive Insight:
Tote AI’s platform connects Weigel’s POS, back office, foodservice and intelligent store operations into one cloud-based platform that can continue improving as technology advances, according to the announcement. This makes it easier to take advantage of new capabilities as they’re developed.
"We're a big believer in the power of technology to make our stores better and our associates more productive," said Doug Yawberry, president and CEO of Weigel's. "Tote AI gives us a platform that can grow and evolve as quickly as our business does.”
Weigel’s has a history of tech-forward thinking. The retailer adopted self-serve fuel pumps in the 1970s, making it among the early adopters of the technology, according to the company’s website. In recent years, the company has added tablets in stores to boost loyalty signups, debuted its tech-forward car wash and debuted its Milk Crate Retail Media Network.
Earlier this year, the company also converted MyWeigel’s Rewards to a tiered, trips-based approach and added milestone-based communications to the program.
