Dive Brief:
- Global fuels company World Fuel has acquired approximately 33 branded dealer contracts in the Midwest from CF Altitude, a World Fuel spokesperson confirmed to C-Store Dive.
- The locations included in the deal are scattered across the greater St. Louis metropolitan area in Missouri and Illinois, according to the spokesperson and an announcement from World Fuel.
- CF Altitude was previously identified as Colorado-based retailer Alta Convenience’s parent company. It’s unclear if that relationship remains in place.
Dive Insight:
The dealer contracts acquired by World Fuel do not appear to be for any of Alta Convenience’s current stores, since Alta’s website shows its more than 100 locations are in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.
In January 2021, Pester Marketing Company, doing business as Alta Convenience, was sold to a joint venture between Fortress Investment Group and a Phillips 66 subsidiary. A May 2026 SEC filing listed CF Altitude as being associated with Phillips 66.
World Fuel’s spokesperson declined to comment on any connection between the deal and Alta, and declined to identify the fuel brands associated with the 33 contracts or specify the individual locations.
In a statement, the spokesperson said the locations currently operate under established fuel brands and that the company is focused on ensuring a seamless transition.
“We will work closely with individual owners over time to provide the support that best fits their businesses and local markets,” World Fuel’s spokesperson said in a statement.
Miami-based World Fuel offers a broad portfolio of major oil brands, fuel delivery and other services to more than 3,000 independent convenience retailers and truck stop owners across the U.S., per the announcement. Bob Kenyon, senior vice president of retail, wholesale and supply chain, said the deal with CF Altitude strengthens its distribution network in the Midwest.
“Combined with our extensive supply network and longstanding relationships across all major fuel branding programs, we are ideally situated to provide customers with continuity, flexibility, and trusted support,” Kenyon said in the announcement.
Representatives from CF Altitude and Alta Convenience did not respond by press time to requests for comment on the transaction or the companies’ current relationship.
